How to not read into advertisements

Date September 29, 2009

While I normally agree with and enjoy Queers United, I have to disagree with them on a recent post of theirs regarding reading too much into this ad for iMovie:

Queers United had this to say:

A new commercial by Apple mocks transgender people and attempts to make trans people seem less than and a “work in [...]

Kiss Me, I’m Gay

Date January 18, 2009

I’ve read this article about male-male makeout scenes in movies several times over the past few weeks, and it’s well worth the read. From the Washington Post (emphasis by JGI is added in bold):
In the relentless publicity interviews he’s been doing for his new movie, “Milk,” there’s plenty to ask about his performance as the [...]

Some EW writers are decidedly NOT gay.

Date December 24, 2008

Designed to be a protest against the Nov. 4 [...]

I’ll be supporting a day WITH a gay.

Date December 9, 2008

Tomorrow, December 10, is also being celebrated as Day Without a Gay. From their website:

The worldwide media attention surrounding our massive grassweb efforts for gay rights has been tremendous. Join the Impact was a HUGE success and will continue to thrive because of our efforts.
We’ve reacted to anti-gay ballot initiatives in California, Arizona Florida, and [...]

Various Commentary

Date November 30, 2008

Here’s a brief compilation of comments I’ve posted on others’ blogs that I just wanted to have chronicled for myself in one place:
11/7/08, 3:07am (post-election)
Just for the record, I’d like to state that I AM the product of a family who NEVER talked about homosexuality, and I still figured out that I’m gay. I shudder [...]
